RockBase Ground Screw Durability – Coatings, Corrosion and Service Life

RockBase ground screws are manufactured with an extra thick galvanizing layer and are tested to strict standards for corrosion resistance. Their practical durability varies depending on the type of soil and the acidity level (pH) of the installation area. On this page you will find a comparison table between coating types and soils, including scientific data and recommended periods of use. It is recommended to perform a soil pH test before determining the warranty or expected life of the screw.

Torque meter – precise engineering control for every screw

The RockBase Torque Meter system enables intelligent and precise engineering control of the entire ground screw installation process. The system measures in real time the level of torque required to insert each screw – providing a direct indication of soil quality, surface conditions and bond strength. The data collected can be used to identify anomalies, document performance and produce reports at the highest level. The device is calibrated, advanced and measures up to 12,000 Nm – with an accuracy level that leads the industry.

Retrieval and loading test

Load testing and pull-out testing are necessary to match the type of bolt: length, diameter, and helix type to the project. The test is performed by us, after installing a trial bolt/bolts. The data we receive is the weight-bearing load of each bolt, and the ability to resist pull-out. This data will allow the project manager/constructor to match the correct bolts to the project.
